You live in almost. Loyal to what could be, in a life that never quite begins.
You live in almost. The relationship that is not quite a relationship. The person who gives you just enough to keep you and never quite enough to hold you. The potential you can see so clearly that you have mistaken it for a future. So you wait. You stay loyal to what could be. You read crumbs as signs, silence as depth, and unavailability as a challenge worth your devotion.
You have spent years on the edge of things that never quite became things. And if you look closely, the almost is not an accident. The almost is safer than the real thing would be, because the real thing would ask you to believe you deserve to be fully chosen, and that is the one belief you have never been able to hold.
So you choose the ones who will keep you in the waiting room. You shrink your own wanting down to whatever fragment is on offer, and you call the fragment enough, because asking for the whole of it might mean finding out you will not get it.
| What they see | What you carry |
|---|---|
| So patient | Waiting for someone who never quite chooses you |
| Sees the best in people | Loyal to what could be, never what is |
| Devoted | Reading crumbs as signs |
| Easygoing | Shrinking your wanting to fit the fragment offered |
| Hopeful | On the edge of a life that never quite begins |
This was never patience. It is a shape you took, long ago, to keep from finding out you might not be chosen.
You will keep waiting until you stop believing that fragments are all you are allowed.
There is something in you that has never had to wait to be chosen. It never asked permission to be here, never lived on fragments, because it was whole long before the first almost. It has been watching you wait, all this time, already complete.
That is the way out. Not a longer wait, and not settling for less. The older traditions have a name for it, and a way of returning to it.
