Your pattern has a name
The Mirror Seeker

You keep falling for the same person in a new face. You have called it love. It was recognition.

THE MIRROR SEEKER SEEKING ITSELF IN ANOTHER

You keep meeting the same person. A different name, a different face, a different city, and somehow the same charge, the same pull, the same ending arriving right on time. You have wondered if you have a type. You do, and it runs deeper than looks. You are drawn, every time, to whoever carries the exact thing you have not yet made peace with in yourself.

They feel like recognition, and you call the recognition love. The unavailable one. The one who cannot quite meet you. The one who keeps you reaching. Something in them fits something unfinished in you so precisely that it feels like home, and you have never stopped to notice that home was never settled either.

So you reach. You hand the relationship the power to tell you who you are, and then you wait to find yourself in their eyes. And when the reflection flickers, you feel yourself begin to disappear.

The two of you
What they seeWhat you carry
Always falling in loveReaching for someone who cannot reach back
Such a romanticA pull you have mistaken for love
Knows what they wantOnly feeling real when someone reflects you
Chooses with their whole heartChoosing whoever matches the old ache
So alive in connectionVanishing the moment the mirror goes dark

This was never about them. It is a shape you took, long ago, to find yourself in someone else's eyes.

You reach You feel real The mirror dims You chase THE LOOP

You will keep meeting this person until you stop looking for yourself in them.

There is something in you that has never needed a reflection to know it is real. It never once looked to another person to be told who it is. It was here before the first mirror, and it has been watching you search all this time, whole the entire way.

That is the way out. It was never going to be found in another set of eyes. The older traditions have a name for it, and a way of returning to it.

I wrote a short guide for exactly this loop.
It shows what built it and the one in you who was never caught in it.
